This particular steel formula is often referred to as the stainless version of a carbon steel as it’s an easy transition to get used to working with and sharpening. There is no addition of super hard Vanadium carbides to battle with, but a significant addition of Chromium (harder than Carbon, softer than Vanadium) adds a wear resistance that can not be matched by any carbon steel. Silicon Carbide paper or Diamonds will make the job easiest but even simple water stones can get the job done.
Sharpened at 27 degrees with a flat Scandinavian Grind. Featuring a low belly and fine tip spoon carving inspired design with a slight sway back, which serves to allow a progressive curve without adding bulk, and looks super sinister! New Hampshire “Live Free or Die” edition stamp.
