If you need a LEFT HANDED hook, just say so in the checkout comments. If comments are blank I’ll assume Right Handing. A right handed hook has it’s cutting edge on the left side, so when held in the right hand you’ll be cutting toward yourself. The left is reverse.
Each month will be a new model of hook blade or straight blade, but the batch will all be the same basic specs with surprise woods used for both the handles and sheaths. For this round expect Cherry, Maple, Ash, Locust, or Walnut 7” handles with Ash or Maple sheaths, in the style pictured. You can also check out my “custom commission” if you would like to choose all the details of your order, and choose different blade than the one being offered here .
The Monadnock Hook is my flag-ship model, and the basic concept where my entire hook line started. It’s a stout blade which features a curve that is 2” in circumference for roughly 80 percent of the cutting edge with the last bit at the heal opening up to a broader curve to help broaden the rim of spoons. It has been received by many as the perfect most versitile curve available. It’s carves an eating spoon as easily as a cooking spoon or small to medium scoop. Kuksa and small bowls are even an option. The bevel design is another area where this model shines. When pushed hard for a heavy cut it’s locks in well and motors through. It finishes smooth simply by backing off the force, and taking smaller bites. It carves down grain and cross grain with equal ease to create a flawless finish.
Note to Australian Customers - Last I knew our USPS services were suspended due to Covid Closures on your end. I can ship UPS, but it cost about $100 minimum. We’ll have to run a second charge cover it. Good news is it’s very quick
